Business Spotlight: Cencalli Taqueria

Cencalli Taqueria | 2389 Main Street

Created with a vision of providing authentic Mexican street cuisine, owners and husband-wife duo, Zoe Romero and Andres Venalonzo, opened Cencalli Taqueria in December of last year. Part of their mission is in the name — “cencalli, meaning “family” — and they’ve aimed to both engage and connect the community through their food service and events.

What makes Cencalli Taqueria unique?

While some restaurants offer what seems like endless menu options, Cencalli focuses on a small menu made fresh from scratch. EVERYTHING is made in-house, which is somewhat rare these days, but you sure can taste the difference. Even though the menu is small, they like to play around with it and expand on current menu items as well as work with other local chefs to bring in their flair. In addition to the mouth-watering cuisine, Cencalli has the largest selection of fresh margaritas in Denver, with over 15 selections including an Avocado & Lavender Infused Margarita.

Beyond the food and drink, Cencalli Taqueria serves as a hub for local Latino community by authentically celebrating cultural events like Cinco de Mayo, building local connections and forming relationships with groups and organizations with similar interests and shared goals, and by ensuring that the local Latino community always feels welcomed in their establishment. If you look around their walls, you’ll even see art by local Latino artists displayed and up for sale.

Why Downtown Littleton?

Zoe and Andres have actually been in the restaurant industry for many years, opening their first restaurant, Colonna’s Pizza, in 2017 in Centennial. Colonna’s is a full service restaurant that features New York style pizza and pasta. They were initially planning to open the same concept in Downtown Littleton, but decided to explore and honor their heritage, thus creating Cencalli instead. When they get bored of making tacos, they make pizza and vice versa.

What do you want people to know?

Cencalli has an incredible fundraising program and gives up to 20% of sales back to community non-profits. Non-profits interested in partnering with them should absolutely reach out.

In addition to their charitable efforts, Cencalli is currently trying to expand their catering capacity to offer taco bars, burrito boxes, and more.

Visit Cencalli Taqueria Monday through Wednesday from 10:00am to 9:00pm, Thursday through Saturday from 10:00am to 10:00pm, Sunday from 10:00am to 9:00pm, and enjoy HAPPY HOUR everyday from 2pm to 5pm.
