Raisin at Town Hall Arts Center

Town Hall Arts Center 2450 Main St, Littleton, United States

The Colorado Premiere of this powerful, musical retelling of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic, “A Raisin in the Sun.” Music by Judd Woldin | Lyrics by Robert Brittan | Book by Robert Nemiroff & Charlotte Zaltzberg Based on the play, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry | March 22 - April 14, 2024 Be among the first people in Colorado to experience this soulful and inspiring musical about a proud Black family’s quest for a better life in 1951 Chicago. Three generations of Walter Younger’s family are living in a single, cramped apartment. But when Walter’s father passes away, and the family receives a substantial life insurance payout, grief gives way to hope. Walter wants to use the money to open a small business, while his mother wants to invest in homeownership outside the impoverished community in Southside Chicago, and to pay for her daughter’s medical school education. This timeless story of family conflict, forgiveness, and the pursuit of the American Dream was hailed by New York Times critic, Clive Barnes, as “…one of those unusual musicals that should not only delight people who love musicals, but might also well delight people who don't.” Translation: Dear Human Being Reading This […]

Red at Town Hall Arts Center

Town Hall Arts Center 2450 Main St, Littleton, United States

John Logan’s taut, visceral two-hander, Red, features Latvian-American abstract painter Mark Rothko at the height of his career. Viewed through the lens of his youthful new assistant, Ken, we witness Rothko at the pinnacle of his creativity, but struggling through the creation of a series of large paintings, commissioned as a series intended to feature in New York’s brand-new Four Seasons Restaurant. As Ken and Rothko paint, they challenge each other to ask big questions about art: what it takes to create it and what its role should be in the world. Set in the 1950s, and based on a series of real events, Red takes a compelling look at the ever-changing relationship between an artist and his creations.

The Prom at Town Hall Arts Center

Town Hall Arts Center 2450 Main St, Littleton, United States

Music by Matthew Sklar | Lyrics by Chad Beguelin | Book by Bob Martin & Chad Beguelin |May 24 – June 23, 2024 Big city stars set themselves on a collision course with small town PTA politicians in this sequin-covered musical comedy. Fresh off a humiliating and high-profile flop, four of Broadway’s brassiest, sassiest stars decide to put themselves back in the spotlight by finding a noble cause to champion. As luck (and social media) would have it, a small-town high school in Indiana has gotten itself into some controversy surrounding its prom. A sweet, courageous young woman wants to take her girlfriend to the dance. But the conservative faculty members and self-righteous parents in the community will stop at nothing to deny the same-sex couple their spin around the dance floor. Enter the belty quirky Broadway quartet to the rescue, inviting the students to be the kick-ball-change they want to see in the world! The Prom has been celebrated for being joyous, full of zaaz, and “…an unpretentious delight.” And we think it’s a perfect, sparkly, spectacular way to kick of Spring and close out our 41st season. Purchase your tickets early! Ticket prices increase starting May 10th, 2024!!
